Fiery Cheese Popcorn

Cheesy, craveable stovetop popcorn with a little heat: hot sauce and Worcestershire butter, cheddar powder and a smoky spice mix with onion, mustard and garlic.

Ingredients

  • vegetable oil30 ml
  • popcorn kernels100 g
  • butter — melted45 g
  • Worcestershire sauce — 1 tsp5 ml
  • hot sauce5 ml
  • cheddar cheese powder40 g
  • chili powder8 g
  • seafood seasoning7 g
  • smoked paprika7 g
  • ground mustard1 tsp
  • garlic powder1 tsp
  • onion powder1 tsp

Method

  1. Heat a medium-large pot with a tight-fitting lid with the oil, 2 turns of the pan, over medium to medium-high heat. Add the kernels, cover and pop the corn until there are about 2 seconds between pops, then remove from the heat.
  2. Stir the hot sauce and Worcestershire into the melted butter. While the popcorn is hot, pour the butter over the top and season with fine sea salt.
  3. Toss the popcorn with the cheddar powder, chili powder, seafood seasoning, paprika, ground mustard, garlic powder and onion powder.

  • Dairy-free

    • 45 g Dairy-free butter instead of butter
    • 30 g Nutritional yeast instead of cheddar cheese powder

    Melt the dairy-free butter with the hot sauce and Worcestershire as written, and toss the popcorn with the nutritional yeast in place of the cheddar powder.
